Dolly Jo Swain, 71, passed away August 5, 2023, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born July 20, 1952, in Wayzata, MN, daughter of the late Daniel and Patricia M. Smith. Dolly graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Bloomington, MN in 1970. She was a waitress for most of her life waitressing at Ryan’s that later on became Golden Corral for over 15 years.
She was a very personable woman who loved to talk to people and make them feel welcomed. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, taking care of everyone around her and playing bingo. She was also a very crafty person who loved to paint and do DIY projects as well as an avid gardener who loved to plant flowers for everyone to enjoy.
Dolly is survived by her sons, Michael (Samantha) Swain of Fort Wayne, IN; Cameron A. Smith of Kenton, OH; stepchildren, Thomas L. (Michelle) Swain Jr., Marvin Swain, Melinda (Thomas) Davenport, Lucas Bergman all of Fort Wayne, IN; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gregory G. Smith, Ervin R. Kuhnhenn, and Steven M. Kuhnhenn. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Thomas L. Swain, as well as two of her grandsons, Lawrence and Marcus Grayson.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 4:00 pm Saturday August 26, 2023, at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, IN. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation. To sign the online guestbook go to www.mccombandsons.com.
