Charlotte A. McCracken

Charlotte A. McCracken, age 83, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at her residence. She was born June 23, 1940 in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Murdoc Lewis and Mildred (née Millman) Murchison. Charlotte graduated from A.I. Dupont High School, Class of '58 and matriculated from Maryville College with a B.S. in Education, Class of '62; she would spend 23 years in public education as a second grade school teacher in Dover, Delaware. Following her retirement, Charlotte relocated to the mountains of Lewisburg, West Virginia and was an active member of Graystone Baptist Church. She would later relocate to Fort Wayne and was active in the Towne House Retirement Community. Charlotte is survived by her son, Edward Lewis (Deborah) Black of Auburn, Indiana; grandson, Cody Wynn (Stacey) Chaney of Opelika, Alabama; sister-in-law, Linda P. Murchison of Milton, Delaware; nephew, Scott L. (Arleen) Murchison of Dover, Delaware; niece, Denise (Jeff) Ferguson of Milton, Delaware; great nephews, Alex (Ruth Anne) Ferguson, Brian (Leanne) Ferguson of Severn, Maryland; great-grand nieces and nephews, Eve Ferguson, Emilia Ferguson and Oliver Ferguson; She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Betty P. Murchison of Glen Mills, Pennsylvania; and brother, Richard Lewis Murchison of Lewisburg, West Virginia. Funeral Service is 3:00 pm, Tuesday, June, 11 at Towne House Retirement Community Chapel, 2209 St. Joe Center Rd, Fort Wayne with calling two hours prior.
