Barbara Ann Longenberger

Barbara Ann Longenberger, age 72, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Parkview Randallia Hospital. Born on January 19, 1950, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, she was the youngest child of the late Alexander and Blanche (Obecny) Golembiewski. Barbara was a graduate of South Side High School. On June 23, 1972, she married her high school sweetheart, Stanley Longenberger. Together, they built a life and raised their two children in Fort Wayne. Barbara spent her working years at Sam’s Club, where she worked in various positions from 1987 until 2008, as her health allowed. When not working, Barbara enjoyed cooking and working in her yard and garden. She loved spending time with her husband riding bicycles and vacationing. She was a social person who especially enjoyed spending time with friends around the family pool. Barbara’s faith defined her. As a devoted Christian, she will be remembered for opening her home for bible study, her work in several food ministries, and playing an instrumental role in the creation of Sharing God’s Blessing. She was a devoted and active member of Waynedale United Methodist Church for several years. In 2019, she was baptized at Seventh Day Adventist and remained a steadfast member until her death. Barbara is survived by her husband of 50 years, Stanley Longenberger; and her children, Amy (Joey) Ternet and Rick (Kyli) Longenberger. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Stanley, Walter, and Chester Golembiewski; and sister, Mary Ann Faehnrich. A memorial service for Barbara will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804 with visitation from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest privately in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
