Anna Louise (Lapadat) Tyler, 89, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away January 5, 2020. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Jack L. Tyler, whom she met and fell in love with during high school. She has been reunited with him and other family who preceded her: son Matthew L. Tyler, parents George and Anna Lapadat; brother George G. Lapadat; sisters Rosalia Wilkinson and Mary Crosby; and great nephew James L. Lepper. She will be sorely missed by those still here: son Christopher L. and wife Kim Tyler, son Nick L. Tyler and dear friend, Sheila R. Meyer; sons by other mothers Greg York, Bill Newmann, Kim Klophenstein; grandson Christian Tyler Morgan; granddaughter-by-choice Annie (Melchi) Stanley; nieces Patti (Wilkinson) Barlett and Rebecca (Crosby) Lepper; great nephews John and Eric Barlett and great niece Kelly Power.
Ann was a 28-year veteran of the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, attained the rank of Detective Sergeant, and was a past president of Women in Police Indiana. In 1958 Ann and Jack were founding members of the NE Indiana Historical Automobile Association. She was so proud of her Romanian ancestry and maintained the Romanian Orthodox heritage of faith and family her entire life.
Visitation will be 10:00 am - 12:00 pm Thursday, January 9, 2020, at C. M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home 1327 N. Wells Street, Fort Wayne 46808. Services will commence at 12:00 pm and be conducted by Father John Ionita of Chicago IL. After the service there will be a committal at Lindenwood Cemetery.
