Nguyễn Thị Trình, 88, of Fairfax Virginia, peacefully passed away on March 06, 2021 in Fairfax, Virginia. She is survived by her eight children, 16 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
She was born to Phạm Thị Hội, on June 18, 1933 in Cam Giang District, Hai Duong Province, VietNam. At three years old, her mother passed away and her father remarried. She grew up with four siblings and four step-siblings. At the age of 17, she married Trần Văn Pháp, a reserve officer from Nam Dinh Military Academy who served in the North Vietnamese National Army from 1948-1954, and who later served as an Officer in the Republic of VietNam Marines Division from 1955-1975. After the Fall of Saigon in 1975, he was sent to a concentration camp for three years, during which he became ill and was eventually released. He passed away three months after they were reunited. At the age of 42, she was left a widow with eight children to raise on her own. Through perseverance and hard work, she became a businesswoman that operated a successful store and restaurant.
After the fall of Saigon in 1975, life was tough beyond words for South Vietnamese military wives. She faced daily harassment and mental torture from the new communist government. However, through sheer will and determination, she stayed strong and tirelessly worked for her children and grandchildren - her purpose in life was dedicated entirely to them. She selflessly gave herself and all that she had to ensure their wellbeing and safety - even if it meant parting ways with each child as they attempted their escapes to America in search of a better life.
She emigrated from VietNam and came to the United States in 1991. Even here, she continued to tirelessly and selflessly take care of her loved ones until she was no longer physically able to.
She has left behind a legacy of love and sacrifice. She was loved by all her children and grandchildren, and she will be greatly missed.
As of 2021, she had eight Children, twenty two Grandchildren, and seven Great Grandchildren:
