Sai Ling Thang

Dear Family & Friends, Our beloved Sai Ling Thang left us on September 8, 2024 at the age of 91 due to cancer. His journey began in 1932 in Falam, Burma and led him to Washington, DC in 1960 as a Burmese diplomat to the United States, eventually settling in Vienna, Virginia in 1969. His studies of international affairs and global travel gave him a deep appreciation of the right-to-vote, the preservation of the freedom of expression, and the assertion of human rights. Sai Ling Thang is preceded in death by his first wife, Bouachine Thang, and daughter, Mary Thang. He will be missed tremendously by his wife Lily Kung Thang, his daughters Vida Gallagher and Lily Thang, his three grandchildren Melissa, Michael and Matthew Gallagher, and great granddaughter Summer Gonzalez. Sai Ling Thang…a man who believed that there was always time for laughter. Whether in times of turmoil or happiness, Sai’s wit, combined with his fondness for storytelling and sharing a good joke touched all who knew him.
