Robert P. Mills

Robert Perry Mills, age 90, of Lanham, Maryland, passed away on April 22, 2023, in Taneytown, Maryland, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 27, 1932, in Falls Church, Virginia to Ralph Adrain Mills and Nannie Ester Mills. He graduated from Falls Church High School. Served in the Air Force and was a veteran of The Korean War. He went on to have a successful career as a Systems Analyst for 30 years with the Department of Defense. Robert was a long-time member of The Elks Lodge #1778 and The American Legion Post 136. Robert was a devoted husband to his wife, Shirley, for 67 years. Together, they created a beautiful family and shared many happy memories. He was a proud father of two children, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren whom he loved deeply. He is preceded in death by his father Ralph A. Mills, mother Nannie E. Weakley, stepfather Elzie L. Weakley, and brother Lewis J. Mills. Robert is survived by his loving wife Shirley, as well as his children Robert Mills, Jr. of Lanham, Maryland and Linda Boulin of Sykesville, Maryland, his granddaughters Kelly (Jack) Leek of Hampstead, Maryland, Katie (Matt) Herman of Sykesville, Maryland, and Emily (Taylor) DeYoung of Baltimore, Maryland, his great-grandchildren Trevor Lone of Westminster, Maryland, Mackenzie and Colton Herman of Sykesville, Maryland, and his nephew Bobby (Peggy) Mills of Winter Haven, Florida. Pallbearers will be Robert Mills, Jr., Bobby Mills, Jack Leek, Matt Herman, Taylor DeYoung and Trevor Lone. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at National Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, Virginia where a funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM. Interment will be held at National Funeral Home & Memorial Park immediately following the funeral service. All are invited to attend the funeral reception after the interment to celebrate Robert Mills’ life and share their memories and stories. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in his memory to either the American Cancer Society or BridgingLife Hospice. Robert Mills’ light will continue to shine through his family, friends, and all those who were fortunate enough to have known him. Rest in peace, dear Robert. You will be deeply missed.
