Mary Alma Meador Moreland

Mary Alma Meador Moreland, 86, died July 8, 2021 at The Gardens Assisted Living in Fairfax, Virginia. Alma was born on August 5, 1934 to Howard and Alma Meador in Roanoke, Virginia. She spent her childhood and school years in Vinton, Virginia. Alma began her career with Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company when she was 18 and retired after 40 years of service. Her career took her to Fairfax, Virginia where she met and married Wilbur H. Moreland, Jr. in 1962. She unselfishly cared for Willie for 8 years before his death in 1994. Alma was always independent and organized. She read constantly, always wanting to learn more about myriads of topics. She faithfully remembered dates and special occasions and she sent many cards and hand-written notes which was her outreach ministry. Alma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother Robert W. Meador. Those she leaves behind are her sister, Alice Meador Smith of Lubbock, Texas; sister-in-law Jan C. Meador of Lexington, Virginia; sister-in-law Mary E. Moreland of Fairfax, Virginia; nephew Robert C. Meador; and nieces Debbie Pruett, Holly Duncan and Amy Shoop. Also surviving are stepdaughter Donna Blevins and stepson, Bill Moreland. The family wishes to give a very special thank you to Nelle Krobath, her friend and advisor. A Graveside Service will be held at 2 pm on August 6, 2021 at Evergreen Burial Park in Roanoke Virginia.
