Nécrologie de Marianne Poniatowski
Na. Marianne Poniatowski, 80, passed away on February 4th 2019 at home from complications following a massive stroke. Marianne was surrounded by the loving family she cherished and who cherished her. Marianne (or Na as she was better known) was born on August 30th 1938 in Pittsburgh, PA. She was a graduate of Oliver High School. She met her husband Tom while continuing to need gas at the gas station where he worked in 1957. They were married two years later on May 9th 1959. They spent 55 wonderful years married to each other, before her beloved Tom passed. They built their lives together at first in Pittsburgh and then Northern Virginia. They spent 42 years living together in Springfield, VA. There they laid roots and grew their family, which she loved more than anything. Marianne loved to crochet and made the most beautiful afghans. She also loved the beach, vacationing with family and collecting sea shells. Marianne is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Poniatowski, her parents Helen and Walter Zastawa, and her brothers Tom and Raymond Zastawa. She is survived by her daughters, Marianne (Nick) Beck, Renee (Eric) Morrisette, her 5 grandchildren Nicholas (Melinda) Beck, Natalie (Rob) Smith, Douglas, Walter & Charlie Morrisette, three great-grandchildren, Becka, Taylor, Nicholas (plus another on the way), her brother Walter (Becky) Zastawa, her sister Helen (Joe) Williams and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her passing has left a void that can never be filled she touched many and we will always miss her loving presence. Services will be held Saturday February 9th 2019, 2:00pm at the Demaine Funeral Home located at 10565 Main St. Fairfax, VA 22030, with a reception to follow.
