Donald Richard Dickhute 97, passed away on Friday, February 17,2023. He leaves to mourn his passing his son John C. Dickhute (Betty) of Mt. Jackson, VA and beloved daughter Mary Ann Clementi (Salvatore) of Clifton, VA and his brother Kenneth Dickhute of Texas. He is predeceased by his wife of 72 years, Diana and his eldest son, Richard Dickhute.
Donald was born in Tribune, Kansas to Anna and Laverne Dickhute on December 19, 1925. He was raised in Kansas where he met his first wife June Latiolais and had one son, Richard. They soon divorced. He enlisted in the Army during World War II and was stationed in Germany and Trieste, Italy where he met and fell in love with Diana Cossettini. They married in 1948 and moved to Ft. Belvoir, VA. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, they settled in Alexandria, VA where they raised their family. Donald worked as a civilian for the Department of the Army until his retirement in 1983.
He was and active member of Holy Rosary Italian Catholic Church in Washington, DC where he was a member of the Holy Name Society.
Donald will be remembered for his fun loving, gentle but outgoing personality and his love of his family.
Donald is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Rodney (Mary) and Ricky (Trinadee) Dickhute, Cindy Washington (Dietrich), Alexandra and Rachael Dickhute, Anthony and Michael Clementi and Teresa Gallop (Patrick).
Donald will be buried on Saturday, February 25 at Mt. Comfort Cemetary in Alexandria. If desired, contributions may be made to Children’s National Medical Center, Washington, DC in Donald Dickhute’s memory.
