William B. Bennett, Jr., 75, heard the train whistle blow and the conductor say “All Aboard for Glory!” on June 21, 2017, when he passed away quietly at home. He was born September 16, 1941, in Louisville, KY, to the late William B., Sr. and Dorothy M. (Payton) Bennett.
Bill grew up in Evansville and worked for International Steel. He later retired from Whirlpool but continued on working until his death at Enterprise. Bill played organ for Bethel Temple from the 1970’s to the 1990’s. He loved trains and the Smokey Mountains.
Bill was preceded in death by his younger brother, Danny; and his parents.
He is survived by his son, Tony (Kim) Bennett of Evansville, IN; daughter, Trena (Bill) Jenkins of Dale, IN; granddaughters, Casey Jenkins, Abby (Jacob) Board, Amy (Josh) Pierrard, Kelly Jenkins, Maggie (Jesse) Underwood, Molly Jenkins and Libby Jenkins; step-grandson, Preston Wells; great-grandchildren, Katie, Quintin and Jameson; sister, Beverly (Dan) Pietrowski; and brothers, Tim (Lvonne), Jim (Lisa) Bennett.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Monday, June 26, 2017, at Alexander Memorial Park Heritage Chapel, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Monday from 9:30 AM until service time at the cemetery chapel.
