Robert P. Willett

Robert P. Willett, 79, passed away Monday, December 26, 2011, at VNA Charlier Hospice Center. He was born December 13, 1932 in Evansville, IN. Robert spent his teenage years working at Kanzler’s Market. He served in the US Army in Japan as a Sgt. 1st Class from 1949-1952. He returned to work at Kanzler’s Market as a butcher from 1952-1957. In 1957, Bob began a 20 year career at Chesty Foods. Later, he went to work as a supervisor at Coca Cola and retired after 20 years. After retirement he went to work at Casino Aztar in 1994. Robert loved his children most of all and coached Little League. He went to musicals and was a band booster, avid golfer, bowler and sports fan. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ-Heusler for 54 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elva Willett; sisters, Edith & Ellen; brother, Jerome; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Rheinhart and Mildred Kanzler. Robert is survived by his wife of 54 years, Donna L. Willett; sons, Dana Robert Willett (Rohnna), Evansville; Jon Alan Willett (Stephanie), Indio CA. ; daughter, Robin Lee Hall (Charles Locke), Evansville; grandchildren, Natalie Feldmann, Adam, Brianna, and Beau Willett; great grandsons, Dylan and Lucas Feldmann; brothers, Elmer Willett (Sara), Ft. Meyers, FL.; Delmer Willett (Dorothy), Boonville; Bill Willett, Louisville, KY.; sisters, Mary Boerner (Ray), Mt. Vernon, IN., Barbara Curtis (Roger), Evansville; several nieces and nephews. The family wants to give special thanks to the VNA Charlier Hospice Center and all the friends and family for their love, support and prayers. Services will be 10:00AM on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Salem UCC-Heusler, officiated by Pastors Al & Tanya Schmitz with burial following at Salem UCC-Heusler Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 2:00PM-8:00PM at Alexander West Chapel and Thursday, from 9:00AM-10:00AM at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the VA or Salem Heusler Church.
