Jessie J Wilson

Jessie “Joyce” Wilson, 86, of Evansville passed away Friday, May 4, 2018. She was born in Nortonville, KY and was the daughter of Ottoway and Anna Mae Furgerson. Her family moved to from Nortonville to Evansville in 1941 in order for her father to work at the Evansville Navy Shipyard during WWII. Joyce Furgerson was the 5th of six children born to Ottoway and Anna Mae Furgerson. She is proceeded in death by her husband of 56 years, Robert Lee Wilson, and her siblings; Lawson Furgerson, Pearl Imogene Cates, Grady Lorraine LaRoy, and Mary Francis Furgerson, all of Nortonville. Joyce graduated from Central High School and Lockyear Business College. She worked for the Evansville Council of Churches, and was a long time secretary at the University of Evansville. She was a devoted mother and wife, who never missed a child’s or grandchild’s sporting or extracurricular event. She was strong and passionate in her love for her family. Joyce leaves behind her sister Ruby Nell (Jim) Merrimee (West Lafayette, IN); sons Gregory Scott (Roseann) Wilson, Mark Robert (Barbara) Wilson, and Michael Eric (Robbin) Wilson and four grandchildren, Jessica Nichole Wilson, Kyle Scott Wilson, Eleanor Colleen Wilson and Joseph August Wilson. Funeral Services were held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at East Side Christian Church, 2001 Bayard Park Drive, officiated by Pastor John Rich, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends visited Tuesday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to East Side Christian Church.
