Gretchen Elizabeth Baker, 58, of Evansville, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022. She was born on April 30, 1964 in Evansville.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Baker, Sr. and mother, Velma (Wilford) Mason.
Gretchen enjoyed fishing, cooking, baking, making jewelry, reading her Bible, and listening to gospel music. She and her longtime sister for over 40 years, Gwendolyn Casterman-Divers (Arturo), raised their children together, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Gretchen also loved going to church until her health began to fail.
Gretchen is survived by her son, Stankeol “Nekol” Hassell; daughters, Jamisha Meriweather and Sherricka Meriweather; grandchildren, Sky, Stankeol II, Laiken, Lyric, Mariana, Dayzhia, Kendra, Treyvon, Karmara, Marianna, Qualazia, Miracle, Ma’Aliah, Sancere, Sincere, Jedidah, Quat’aysha, Linyea, Joseph, and Ja’nyla; great-grandson, Josiah; brothers, Arthur “Pete” Baker, Jr. (Jill) and Demetrius Baker (Vivian); and nieces and nephews, Anya Thomas (Hurley), Jessica Lipson, Charles Lipson, Jr., Asha Baker, Jasmine Loving (Keith), Dekar Baker, Deriece Baker, Demetria Baker, Ikia Frazier, and Elizabeth Frazier.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Alexander East Chapel with Rev. George Madison officiating. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
