Arthur G. Baker Jr.

Arthur G. Baker, Jr., 68, of Chandler, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2012, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. He was born on November 10, 1943 in Evansville. Art was a US Navy Veteran serving during the Vietnam era. He retired from the US Navy after 20 years. He attended First Christian Church in Newburgh. Art enjoyed fishing, four-wheeler riding, and canoe trips, and spending time with his cat, Keke. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death in 2005 by his wife of 36 years, Linda Baker; parents, Arthur G. Baker, Sr. and Thelma Baker. Art is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Jamison (James), Jaylene Porter (Dean), Jeanine Maurer (Richard); grandchildren, Jeff Jamison, Brooke Russell, Kelsey Maurer, Cameron Maurer, and Jace Jamison; sister, Patricia Mackey (Bob); brothers, Robert Baker (Pam), John Baker, and Keith Baker (Kathy); fiancé, Mary Day; uncle, Don Huett (Betty); and nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, September 17, 2012 at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Rev. Mike Claypool with burial at Sunset Memorial Park with military rites. Friends may visit Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home and on Monday from 10:00 AM until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association and Multiple Sclerosis.
