Nécrologie de Julia Marie 'Ginger' Roccapriore
Ginger Roccapriore, 88, previously from Fairfax, VA, passed away on November 11, 2024, at The Culpeper Retirement Home. She was born May 22, 1936, in Ellwood City, PA to the late Joseph DiBiagio and Elizabeth (Betty) Verner DiBiagio. Ginger graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954 in Ellwood City, PA. Ginger had a long career in the Federal Government as an Administrative Assistant and later promoted to Program Manager starting out with the Department of the Navy, Department of Defense, and ultimately retiring from the Department of Energy in 1997. Ginger was a devout Roman Catholic and parishioner of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Culpeper VA, and previously of the Cathedral of St. Thomas More in Arlington, VA. She was involved in various clubs and organizations, including the Sons of Italy and Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus at the Cathedral of St. Thomas More and at Precious Blood Catholic Church. In addition, she served her community as crossing guard in Fairfax, VA for many years before relocating to Culpeper in 2016 Most importantly Ginger was a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She, with her husband Joe, ensured her children had everything they needed to be healthy and succeed in life even after working a fulltime job, coming home to prepare meals and shuffle her children off to participate in sports and other school and community activities. While there, she would volunteer to assist with concessions, boosters and other supportive roles for her children’s endeavors and community needs. She tirelessly gave her greatest gift to all – Herself. One of her favorite things to do was to cook. She was always ready to prepare a meal for her children, family and friends. Her spaghetti and meatballs were requested by anyone who had the privilege of enjoying it and she would prepare extra so that all could eat their fill, and no one was left wanting more. Late in life, she fell victim to Alzheimer’s disease from which she eventually passed away. However, she never lost her loving, giving spirit. All the time throughout her disability associated with that disease, she always laughed and extended gratitude for those who comforted and cared for her. Throughout her life, even in the final months, she was a joy to be near. Always gave of herself, never expecting a return. She was married to Joseph Paul Roccapriore for 54 years before he went home to our Lord on August 22, 2017, at the age of 92. Ginger is survived by her two sons Mark John and his wife, Erin and Jeffrey Paul and his wife Claudette; two daughters, Elizabeth Marie Barrington and her husband, Kevin, and Margaret (Peggy) Ann Young and her husband, Gavin; her brother Joseph DiBiagio; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews within the DiBiagio and Roccapriore families. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Ann Weir. The family will receive friends on Thursday November 21, 2024, from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at Clore English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, VA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 10:30am at Precious Blood Catholic Church, 114 E. Edmonson Street, Culpeper, VA, with Father Joseph Vu officiating. Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery, 501 E. Chandler Street, Culpeper, VA. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Hospice of the Piedmont or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
