Gaylon Floyd Wolcott, devoted husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024. He was 62 years old. Gaylon was born on January 23, 1962 in Grand Rapids MI. He grew up in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. Upon graduating from Parsippany Christian High School in 1979, he served his country in the United States Army from 1980-1983. He was assigned to the 2nd Armored Division at Fort Hood TX, and participated in exercises in Germany and Denmark.
After leaving the Army, Gaylon moved back to New Jersey where he met and married Patricia Buhlinger. Gaylon and Patty moved to Idaho and later Florida. They had four girls: Shay, Paige, Kayla, and Lynn. Gaylon worked as a chef, and later as a carpenter and HVAC technician. After moving to Virginia, Gaylon and Patty divorced and he married Hilda. Gaylon and Hilda had two children, Ashley and Randy.
Gaylon is survived by his wife Hilda, and his six children: Shay (Jason) Sturgill, Paige (Sean) Gallagher, Kayla (Kalin) Donaldson, Lynn (Dustin) Spangler, Ashley and Randy, and 18 grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother Joan Wolcott and siblings: Wendy (Joey) Edwards, Guy (Gail) Wolcott, Bruce (Anna) Wolcott, Karen (Mark) Miller, Carol (Brian) Warfle, and Brady (Joy) Wolcott. He is predeceased by his father Harold and brother Randy.
A private family viewing will be held Friday 19 July from 12:00 - 1:30 pm at the Clore-English Funeral Home in Culpeper VA. A private burial service will be held at Culpeper National Veterans Cemetery.
