Norma C. Borders

Norma C. Borders, age 91, of Gary, IN passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024. Norma is the loving wife to the late Donald H. Borders; beloved mother to Donald Borders, Charles (Loretta) Borders, Kathleen Borders, John (Sandi) Borders, Thomas (Chris) Borders and the late Steven (the late Gail) Borders; awesome grandma to Shawn, Heather, James, Lori, Kelly, Amanda, Daniel, Taylor, Cameron Jacob, and Erica; great-grandmother to seven; cherished sister to June Williams, Lillian Popyk, Phyllis Hedges, the late Joyce Sorenson, the late Gilbert Jones, the late Robert Hedges and the late Clara Hedges; aunt to many. Norma retired after several years in the Lake Ridge School System. She was an avid BINGO player and loved to fish at the Izaak Walton League in Griffith. Norma also enjoyed camping with her family in Shakamak State Park in Jasonville, IN. She was also a loyal Cubs fan and enjoyed watching the games. She also enjoyed watching her game shows while she did her crossword puzzles. Norma especially enjoyed showing her caregiving and love to her family through her cooking, baking, candy making, and quilting. Visitation will be Friday, July 19, 2024 from 10:00 am until the time of her Funeral at 1:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307, with Pastor Bob Parnell officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Donald, at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
