Mary Phyllis Warfield Hardesty

Mary P. Hardesty, age 83, of Griffith, Indiana, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2015, at William J. Riley Hospice of Munster. Mary was born February 6, 1932 in Buck Creek, Indiana to the late James “Red” and Carrie (Burns) Warfield. Also preceding her in death are her grandson Robert Louis Hardesty; sister, Janice Warfield; and a brother, Sam Warfield. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Bill (Jan) Clark, Robert Hardesty, Charles Gene (Denise) Hardesty, Thomas Hardesty, Patrick Hardesty, and Kenneth Hardesty; grandchildren, William (Liz) and Brad (Jen) Clark, Melissa Hardesty, Joshua, Patrick, and Megan; six great grandchildren; sisters, Norma, Loretta and Shirley; and brother Eugene Warfield. Mrs. Hardesty was a loving and generous caretaker for her large male dominated family. She was a gentle and protecting mother towards her sons. She loved spending time with her family, and cooking for them. Visitation will be Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 10 am until time of the funeral. Funeral services will be 12 noon on Saturday at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 S. Cline Ave.; Schererville, Indiana 46375). Burial will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
