That August, Stanley enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in Los Angeles, California. He proudly served his country for several years, and although he was not ready to hang up his uniform, he was honorable discharged in 1965. Upon returning home, Stanley married the former Brenda Venable on July 3, 1965; together they shared forty-three years of marriage prior to her death on July 28, 2008. Stanley continued his acts of service becoming a Firefighter and later Captain for sixteen years on Engine 1, B shift in Fayette County. He was faithfully employed until he retired on July 2, 2000. On December 27, 2017, he married the former Dianna Earlywine. Stanley was an avid member of the following organizations: the American Legion, VFW, and he was a Passed Commander for the AmVets. He was an exceptional woodworker creating hundreds of keepsakes, trinkets, and gifts for his family and friends. Between calls at the fire department you could find Stanley, crafting something beautiful to give away. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, and spending time outdoors watching the birds.
