David Earl "Dave" Rager

David Earl “Dave” Rager, 62, of Columbus, died at 5:05 p.m. Monday, November 17, 2014, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Dave was born June 12, 1952, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Harold and Maxine Thurgood Rager. He married Pam Littrell Rager October 2003. Dave graduated Columbus High School in 1970 and attended Indiana State University. Dave worked for Cummins Inc. over 40 years mostly in customer service and service engineering, and he recently worked as a warranty engineer with S&R Resources in Cummins RapidServe support center. Dave was an avid golfer and still golfed at least twice a week as a member of Timbergate Golf Course. He coached his sons’ baseball teams and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. Whether it was teeing off for a round of golf, cheering from the sidelines, or teaching his sons the meaning of hard work chopping wood, he always gave 110 percent. Dave enjoyed vacationing to the beach with his family and spending time with his beloved wife Pam. The gathering of family and friends will be 4:00 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2014, at Myers Reed Chapel on 25th St. A Celebration of Dave’s life will be at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or American Heart Association. Survivors include his wife, Pam; sons, Tom (Jennifer) Rager and Andy (Melissa) Rager, all of Columbus; step-son Josh (Regan) Littrell of Columbus; brothers Mike (Belinda) Rager and Steve (Christa) Rager of Florida, Daniel (Mardella) Rager of Columbus; sister Karen (Thomas) Penrod of Columbus; step father, Glenn Line, North Vernon and the mother of his two sons is Jan White Schackel. He was a loving and proud “Papaw” to Adycin, Lyla and Blake Rager, Logun Rager and Lilly Wilson, and “Pappy” to Carson, Wil and Teddy Littrell.
