Betty Lou Voyles, 78, of Columbus, died at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Columbus Regional Hospital. She was born in Washington County, Indiana August 8, 1933. She was the daughter of Ora and Hester Brewer Pollock. She maintained a lifelong interest and attachment to Salem and Washington County. She was a 1951 graduate of Salem High School, and was a member of Lakeview Church of Christ in Columbus. She sold and collected Longaberger Baskets and also collected cookbooks. A special love of her live was her two granddaughters. Mrs. Voyles worked in the 4-H Extension Office in Salem and retired from the office of Cummins Engine Company after 30 years service. The funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Myers~Reed Chapel on 25th Street Columbus with Evangelist Rich Gant officiating. Calling will be 6 ~ 8 p.m. Friday and from 10:00 a.m. until service time Saturday. Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana. She married Marvin L. Voyles December 26, 1956 at the groom’s parent’s home in Salem, he survives. Also surviving are son, Marvin L. Voyles, Jr. and wife Becky of Columbus; daughter, Jean Ann (John) Washler of Edinburgh, IN; brother, Harold (Marsha) Pollock of Greenwood, IN; sister-in-law, Doris DeSchamp of Clarksville, IN; granddaughters, Amanda (Andrew) Beam of West Lafayette, IN and Brittany (Jeremy) Eldridge of New Castle, IN. 2 nieces and 2 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
