Walter Wilson “Buddy” Baber, 77, of Waynesboro, passed away on September 8, 2018.
Buddy was born on May 30, 1941 in Crozet, VA, to the late Harry and Mildred Grimes Baber. Buddy drove a truck for Morton Frozen Foods, Delmonte, ConAgra, J. Bruce Barnes of Crozet and retired from McKee Foods (Little Debbie). He liked tinkering and building odds & end things. He served in the U.S. Air Force for a short time, and was a life-time member of the Crozet Volunteer Fire Dept.
In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Betty C. Baber; a brother, Rodger L. Baber; a nephew, Robert Charles “Bubba” Baber; and brothers-in-law, Wayne Shelby Craig and Jacob “Pee Wee” Craig.
Walter is survived by a brother Jimmy Baber and his wife Delores; a daughter, Lynn B. Allen and her husband Keith; two sons, Shannon W. Baber and his wife Rachel and Alan W. Baber and his wife Kristy; sisters-in-law, Faye Baber and Ruth Kirby; special girlfriend, Sandra; grandchildren, Keith M., Zac, Hannah, Rebecca, Dakota, Brandon, Jacob and Natalie; great grandchildren, Breanna, Leah, Emily and Abel; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Teague Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers: Jimmy Carter, William “Rusty” Morris, Tom Bentson, Brian Haney, Bill Rodes, members of the Crozet Volunteer Fire Dept.
Memorial contributions may be made to Augusta Health, Hospice of the Shenandoah or Crozet Volunteer Fire Dept.
