Peter Joseph Horn

26 novembre 194921 mars 2019
Peter Joseph Horn passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2019 in Charlottesville, Virginia. He was born on November 26, 1949 in New York to the late Elizabeth Beves Horn and William G. Horn. Peter is survived by his daughter Elizabeth Alexandra Horn, his stepdaughter Cristina Gabrielle Webster, and their mother Barbara Lee Horn. He is also survived by his brother David Horn and his family, and his sister Donna Horn Smith and her family. Peter was preceded in death by his stepdaughter Maris Jackqueline Lee Webster. His love for her and for what she meant to him may have been best expressed when through tears and a far-away look he said “She made me feel like a million bucks.” Peter grew up in Staten Island, New York where he attended Catholic school for his early education. After graduating High School, he was a student at Georgetown University, and then Old Dominion University where he became known as Ned. He then settled amongst close friends in Nelson County, which is where he became a husband and father, and discovered a life-long career as a skilled stone mason. While he raised his family and artfully built rock walls, teaching the young men in his employ along the way, Ned kept a twinkle of boyish mischief in his eyes and a touch of childlike wonder about the world. He loved dogs, antique cars, and dabbling in the stock market. He loved going for a drive, sharing funny stories with friends, and a great piece of pizza. Ned was quick to answer a question or solve a puzzle but was never in a rush. He enjoyed lazy afternoons honing his talent as a watercolor artist or losing himself in a day dream. Mostly he was an independent thinker and a man of keen wit who loved listening to music. When Ned heard a good joke or songs by his favorite bands the Clash and the Kinks his eyes lit up, but they were never brighter than on the day his daughter Alex was born. He will continue to be loved and missed by many. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Charlottesville Albemarle SPCA are appreciated, although not necessary. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at 4pm, at Riverview Cemetery in Charlottesville, VA.
