It is with sadness that the Anderson family announces the passing of John Marshall Anderson on February 3, 2022. He was born June 3, 1934, in Charlottesville, Virginia, the youngest and last surviving child of Lillian Marshall Anderson and Charles Carter Anderson.
John and Nancy were married 67 years and lived the past many years in Glen Allen and Henrico County, Virginia. He was Dad to John Jr., who predeceased him (Karen), Nancy Ann Anderson Nuckols (Bart), and Peter Gray Anderson (Christina). He was Papa to grandchildren Tripp Anderson, Katie Anderson Guillaro (Paul), Benjamin Nuckols, Sofia Anderson and Samuel Anderson. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Many longtime friends in Charlottesville, among them Carolyn and Big Herring, and so many new and good friends in the Glen Allen area.
He was a graduate of Lane High School in Charlottesville and was proud to have served in the United States Marine Corps. And he was extremely proud to have been the founder of John M. Anderson Construction Company in Charlottesville, a business that continued for 50 years.
The family extends grateful and warm thank yous to the tireless staff at Our Lady of Hope Christopher Center, the caregivers with Homewatch Caregivers of Richmond, and Serenity First Hospice Care. Inurnment services will be at Riverview Cemetery in Charlottesville on March 9, 2022 at 11:30am followed by Military Honors.
