Helen Murray Brite

Helen Murray Brite, 87, of Earlysville, Virginia went home to her Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 22, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. Helen was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania on June 29, 1935 to the Walter F. and Elisabeth T. Murray. She spent her early years developing a love for animals and had many pets throughout her life. Helen loved to sit in her living room with her kitty, Click, and watch the birds out her window that she faithfully fed throughout the year. She was at her happiest if she were in the horse barn or sitting on the beach enjoying the sun. Helen married Billy Giles Brite on August 20, 1956 in Norristown, Pennsylvania and their marriage was blessed with three daughters. They eventually settled in the Charlottesville area where Helen remained the rest of her life. Helen worked for the Albemarle County School District for many years where she grew to love those she worked with and made many lifelong and devoted friends. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Irene Murray, and her grandson Bradley Bickel. Helen is survived by her beloved daughters, Barbara Cox (Tom), Robin Bickel, and Holly Jenkins (Eric); 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10:00am - 11:00am on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Teague Funeral Home, 2260 Ivy Rd. Charlottesville, VA 22903. Funeral service will immediately follow in the Chapel at Teague Funeral Home. Helen will then be laid to rest with her parents at Ivy Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery, 675 Woodlands Rd. Charlottesville, VA 22901. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Helen's honor to the Charlottesville Albemarle SPCA. Her family would like to thank the caring staff of The Laurels Rehabilitation Center, Commonwealth Senior Living and Heartland Hospice.
