Mrs. Catherine Claire DeLaura

Catherine Claire DeLaura, 57, of Afton, died Friday, August 14, 2015 at Martha Jefferson Hospital after an extended battle with breast cancer. Born July 16, 1958 in Belmond, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Karen Hanson Larson. Claire received her BS in Architectural History from the University of Virginia (1980) and a Masters of Architecture from Rice University (1987). She traded in her architectural career in 1990 to become a homeschooling mom. She is survived by her husband Louis and their six children; Nichole, Tre, Cat, Amanda, Anna, and Olivia. A memorial service will be conducted 1 p.m., Saturday, August 22 at Portico Church in Charlottesville. All who knew her are welcome.
