Vera Marie Holt

Bloomington - Vera M. Holt (93) passed away on March 27, 2013 at Bell Trace Health and Living Center. She was born October 1, 1919 at Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, Illinois the daughter of Arthur and Jessie (Downing) Smith. She was a graduate of Joliet Township High School and Joliet Junior College. Vera was married to Orial F. Holt in 1941 until his death in 1995. She retired from Workingmen's Federal Savings and Loan in 1986. Vera was of Methodist faith. She was a former member of the Eastern Star, The A.R.E.M.E., and White Shrine of Jerusalem. In addition to her husband, Orial, she was preceded in death by her son, David S. Holt (2001); her sister, Ruth S. Cady (2007); and her parents, Arthur (1965) and Jessie (1969) Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy K. (Dick) Wilson of Ellettsville, IN; four grandchildren, Michael (Chris) Wilson of Bloomington; Shannon (Jeremy) Foreman of Bedford, Aaron (Tara) Wilson of Mooresville; and Lindsay Endris of Bedford; seven great-grandchildren, Luke Foreman, Emma Foreman, Allyson Wilson, Cooper Wilson, Dylan Endris, Owen Endris, and Lauren Wilson; one niece Karen Polk (Carl) of California, and one nephew, H. Smith Cady (Marie)of Wisconsin. Friends may call from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 29, 2013 at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary/Greene and Harrell Chapel. Services will begin after visitation at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery. The family of Vera Holt would like to personally thank our three caregivers, Tammy Holloway, Joyce Gray, and Maxine Hillenberg and the caring staff at Bell Trace Health and Living Center for taking such excellent care of Vera, who was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
