Jerald L. King, 67, of Winter Haven, FL, formerly of Nashville and Bloomington, Indiana, passed away, September 21, 2014. Jerry was born to Russell L. and Doris M. Waggoner King on December 5, 1946, in Columbus, Indiana. He graduated from Brown County High School in Nashville, Indiana, and served in the United States Army in Kassell, Germany, during which time he received several commendations and awards for exemplary service as a communications specialist. After his discharge he married Margaret Koehl and together they raised daughter, Karin, who gave them four grandsons. Jerry retired in 2012 from Cook, Inc. in Bloomington, Indiana, having served 33 years as a computer specialist in IT. Preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Karin, he is survived by his wife, Marge, of Winter Haven, FL step-daughter, Barbara Moniz (John), of Smithfield, Rhode Island; sister, Josie Ann Henneke (Carroll), and adopted niece, Autumn Bowden, of Indianapolis, and grandsons, Mitchell Oard (Kelsey), Jacob Hawkins, Samuel Hawkins and Zachary Hawkins, all of Bloomington, Indiana. His favorite pastimes were playing golf, hanging out with his grandsons watching IU basketball, building and repairing computers, camping, going to flea markets and most of all, working in the woods, mowing, cutting wood, doing anything with the boys outdoors. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Day and Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home at 4150 East Third Street in Bloomington, Indiana. Inurnment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nashville, IN. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Cornerstone Hospice Foundation of Winter Haven, FL, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778, or the charity of one’s choice.
