Nécrologie de James "Jim" Stephen Eggers
Jim passed away peacefully at age 75 on November 16 at Hospice House in Bloomington with his wife and daughter by his side. He was born April 30, 1949 in Frankfort, Indiana to Ted and Betty Eggers, the middle child of five siblings. After graduation from Frankfort Senior High School in 1967, he entered Ball State University, was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and graduated in 1971. That summer he married his college sweetheart, MaryJo Boarman, after which Jim and Joi began their life long careers in education. At Zionsville Community High School he taught social studies and psychology, earned his MS Ed. in School Administration at Butler University and concluded his 38 year career as Principal of ZCS. Principal Eggers loved his position and embraced each day with energy and enthusiasm. “Carpe Diem” Retiring to Bloomington in 2009 to be close to their daughter Amy, he promptly flunked retirement and found a fun and exciting new job with IU Event Services ushering and greeting fans at basketball games, football games, any and all events at the University. He loved to schmooze and especially enjoyed running into many of his former students who were now attending IU. A new fire in his heart was ignited in 2015 with the birth of his one and only grandchild Duncan James. He loved being “Nan-Nan” to his sweet DJ. They were true buddies and had an amazing bond for nine wonderful years. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Ted and Edward. He is survived by his wife of 53 years ~ MaryJo, daughter Amy, son-in-law Christopher Emge, grandson Duncan James, his sister Susan Storz, nieces Beth (Steve) and Callie his sister Patti Ridenour (Danny), nieces Missy (Steve), Laurie and nephew Derrek (Allison) Also six great nieces and nephews, brother-in-law, Mark Boarman, sister-in-law, Penny Shope and sister-in-law Lisa Freije (Tom). With heavy hearts we acknowledge that “Uncle Jim” will not be attending the spring wedding of great niece Kierstin to Derek. He was extremely excited for her and proud to be closely included. He will be truly missed at this special family celebration. MaryJo and Amy would like to thank the amazing Nurses, Aides and Volunteers at IU Health Hospice House who cared for Jim with gentle kindness and thoughtful dignity.
