James "Jim" Mark Carson

James "Jim" Mark Carson, age 84, of Beech Grove, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022. Jim was the first born May 1, 1938 in Beech Grove, Indiana to the late Modesta (Billman) Carson and Frank Carson. He is also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Ruth Hardesty; father-in-law, Norman Hardesty; brothers, Paul "Buddy" Carson and Tom Carson; and brother-in-law, Larry Taylor. Jim was a member of the first graduating class at Scecina High School and attended Butler University. He was a life-long resident of Beech Grove and a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Jim retired from IMC Corp in which he was an invested partner. He enjoyed playing softball, cards, bowling, golf, and of course watching his beloved Colts and Pacers. Jim enjoyed many years at the family cabin at Racoon Lake and more recently at their condo in Punta Gorda, FL, where, as usual, he gained many more friends. Jim is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sandra (Hardesty) Carson; daughter, Cheryl Sullivan (Mark); son, Mark Carson (Krissy); grandchildren, Samantha Crowe (Austin), Brian Sullivan (Rachael Holmes), and Mary Hughett (Dustin); 3 great grandchildren; and much loved nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Holy Name Catholic Church, 89 N 17th Ave, Beech Grove, Indiana 46107, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM. He will be laid to rest at Calvary Catholic Cemetery following the services. Contributions in his memory may be made to Holy Name Catholic Church or Scecina High School.
