Hynes, Robert Earl, 95, passed away on December 1, 2018. A longtime resident of Bedford, Ohio, he most recently resided in Richmond, Virginia. "Bob" was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty years, Bernice L. Brajer Hynes, and his grandson Gregg Hynes. He is survived by his four children, Ronald Hynes (Dea); Ruthann Chaffee (Wayne); Beckey Watson (Alan); and Renee Melegari (Jeff); eight grandchildren, Jeff Hynes (Michele), Jennifer Parady (Greg), Robert Chaffee, David Chaffee (Tabitha), Colin Watson (Kelly), Lena Watson, Bryce Melegari (Carrie), Craig Melegari; and seven great-grandchildren, Rachel Hynes, Joseph Hynes, Bennett Parady, Lilliana Parady, Macallen Parady, Adelynn Chaffee, and Harper Watson.
Bob served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He was an electrician at Ford Motor Company in Brookpark, Ohio, retiring after 28 years, and he was a member of IBEW Local 1377 for sixty years. He enjoyed making birdhouses and feeding the birds, tinkering at his workbench, and fixing just about everything.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S Washington Hwy, Ashland, VA 23005. There will be a brief viewing and visitation at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 10, 2018, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel. He will be laid to rest along side his beloved wife on Friday, December 14th at 10:30 a.m. in Bedford Cemetery, 999 Broadway Avenue, Bedford, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s name can be made to a local animal shelter, or to Virginia Bluebird Society, 726 William St., Fredericksburg, VA 22401.
