Dawn Elaine Marek

Dawn Elaine (Jones) Marek 62 of Ashland succumbed to cancer on 7/27/2022. Dawn was a lover of life, parrothead, cruising queen, and a fast friend to all she ever met. Dawn enjoyed snow, shopping, animals, and her many friends. But most of all she enjoyed being with her family. Dawn was born and raised in Wilkes Barre, PA and relocated to Northern VA in the early 90’s working as a property manager for the Charles E. Smith Companies before remarrying and moving to the Richmond area in 2003. She continued her career with Harrison and Bates before opening her boutique store, Merry-Go-Round. Dawn was preceded in death by her mother Lois (Van Norman) and father John Dickson Jones, brother Dwight, and sister Debbie (Makelonis). Dawn is survived by twin brother David of Davenport FL, sisters Diane (Youngblood) of Mountain Top, PA and Denise (Tomko) of Hanover, PA, beloved husband Arthur and Max her Amazon parrot. Additionally she leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews. Services will be held on August 13th at 11:00 am at Glen Summit Chapel, 410 Lake Road, Mountain Top, PA 18707, officiated by Rev. Guy Giordano of Slocum Chapel, Exeter, PA. Visitation with the family is at 10:00 am. A celebration of life concert will take place at her home in the near future.
