Amable P. (Mitch) Ocampo, of Arlington, Virginia, died September 5, 2024.
He was born December 26, 1943, to Loretta (Pascual) Ocampo and Galo B. Ocampo, in Sta. Ana Manila, Philippines, where he lived with sisters, Emerita Bona and Maria Celeste (Chikee) and brother, Dennis until 1974 when they moved to Arlington, Virginia.
Mitch graduated from the University of Santo Tomas in 1967 with a degree in mechanical engineering and in 1994, earned a Master of Science in engineering from Catholic University.
In 2012, he retired from the federal government after 30 years of service, first, as an engineer for the Naval Systems Supply Command, inspecting naval facilities around the world, and ultimately as an 8A specialist for the Small Business Administration.
He devotedly cared for his parents, and it was only after their passing that he was helped by his engineering classmates in the Philippines in finding his soulmate, Susette Colot, whom he married in 2003.
He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Bona. He is survived by his wife Susette, sister Chikee and her husband Bob, brother Dennis and his wife Lori, nephews Brian and Eriq, nieces Patricia and Kathleen, great nieces Maura and Hannah, great nephews Nolan, Dalton, Edgar and Ethan, and cousins May and Casto.
A visitation for Mitch will be held Sunday, September 8, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Murphy Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, VA 22203. A memorial mass will occur Monday, September 9, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, 5300 10th St N, Arlington, VA 22205.
He will be interred in Abra de Ilog, Mindoro, Philippines.
