David Manning Dyer was born in Winston-Salem N.C. on March 6, 1960. A few years later, David, along with his parents, Jack and Peg Dyer, moved to Alexandria, VA. David attended St Mary’s grade school and then Bishop Ireton High School. David earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from St Francis College, located in Loretto Pa. After obtaining his CPA, he joined the AFL-CIO and worked in the accounting department. He worked there over 30 years finishing his career as the Assistant Controller, managing the 401K program for the AFL-CIO headquarters. David loved to fish, snow ski, kayak and ride his bicycle.
He had recently returned from a ski trip to Colorado where he loved visiting with family and especially his nephews and his new grand-niece.
A visitation for David will be held Monday, July 22, 2024 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 S. Washington St., Alexandria, VA 22314. A funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, July 23, 2024,10:30 AM at Basilica of Saint Mary, 310 S Royal St., Alexandria, VA 22314.
