À propos

Each day that we come to work, the team at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home has but one goal: to uphold a tradition of excellence that began in 1900 with our founder, David Webb.

We are confident that we will meet the funeral, burial and cremation needs of you and your family, with knowledge, experience, attention to detail and—above all—caring hearts.

History meets the present

Front sitting room at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral HomeFrom the very moment you walk onto the lovingly manicured grounds of our grand old Queen Anne Victorian–style house, you know that you've come to a place of exceptional care and service. Located on Ross Avenue in the heart of Hamilton's Rossville Historic District, our building was once a mansion occupied by the George P. Sohngen family. Today, it is a funeral home offering a comprehensive range of products and services to people from many walks of life, religious faiths and cultural backgrounds.

We know that grief can be overwhelming, but the right funeral director can ease the burden of planning and allow you to be present with family and friends. At Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, you will never be rushed. Instead, we will patiently guide you through every step of planning a fitting tribute. What's more, we will respectfully consider your budget.

We celebrate life

Funeral options have evolved in more than a century of business, and Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home has responded to changing times. You can expect our funeral directors to be focused on helping create a service that is as special as the person it honors.

What does that mean exactly?

Whether you are seeking a cremation with only the closest of family and friends; a full traditional funeral in 1 of our 2 chapels, followed by a cemetery burial; or a modern celebration of life with live music, catering and a send-off that reflects the personality of yourself or your loved one, we go the extra mile to make it happen.

Our caring and compassionate staff will take the time to visit with your family and help plan a unique and personalized celebration of your loved one's life.

Hometown people

With his name reflected in our name, manager Ryan Kidd has served Hamilton families since 2000. He and our team are available to assist you in planning a funeral for a loved one or planning ahead of time for yourself. We invite you to tour the funeral home (or take the virtual tour here), get to know us and find out more about our funeral, burial and cremation services.

History

After purchasing a livery business from his father in 1900, Hamilton resident David Webb founded what is today called Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home. He conducted funerals out of his office on Ludow Street. That first year, he performed just 5 funerals.

The next year, David married Alta Mae Keltner, and they became partners in the funeral business. For many years, Alta Mae made all the burial clothing the funeral home used.

In 1907, David and Alta Mae partnered with John Schreiner. In 1910, James Hawthorne bought out John’s share of the funeral home. David and James were partners until after the 1913 flood in Hamilton, which is when they parted ways.

Grand, new location and new partners

Sohngen mansion, a spectacular Queen Anne Victorian–style house in the heart of the Rossville Historic District on the corner of Ross Avenue and South D Street.

At that time, David and Alta Mae’s sons joined the family business and changed the name to David Webb and Sons Funeral Home. Two sons, Gordon and Herbert, became licensed funeral directors; a 3rd son, Howard, was a partner in the business but spent his days running the Webb family farm.

David died in 1946, and the sons changed the business name back to Webb Funeral Home. With the help of their mother and their wives, Violet and Josephine, Webb Funeral Home grew and prospered. With Gordon’s passing in 1960 and Alta Mae’s passing in 1961, Herbert was left as sole owner of the funeral home. Through the years, David maintained his livery service and the funeral home continued to have an ambulance service until 1966, when Herbert phased both out.

More changes, same fine care

Richard Groves joined the firm in 1956; James Noonan joined in 1967. After Herbert died in 1988, the pair purchased the funeral home and changed the name to Webb-Groves-Noonan Funeral Home. Richard retired from the funeral industry in 1992. James bought his share of the funeral home and changed the business name to Webb Noonan Funeral Home. He sold the business in 1999 and retired in 2005.

In more recent years, the funeral home’s named was changed to Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, reflecting the last name of manager Ryan Kidd, who has played an integral part of the business for 2 decades.

Today, Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home is a member of the Dignity Memorial® network, the largest provider of funeral, cremation and cemetery services in North America.
