We are near Interstate 40 and Interstate 95, and situated just 45 miles from Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Our central location allows us to conveniently serve the families of Harnett, Johnston, Cumberland and Sampson counties.

Cremations

Cremation is important in certain religions and cultures, and more and more people are choosing cremation over more traditional burial options. But, most people aren’t familiar with all of their choices when it comes to cremation. You may choose a direct cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind, a funeral with the body present, followed by cremation or a cremation followed by a celebration of life service.

History

Ray Cromartie Sr. opened Cromartie Funeral Home on Broadway Street in the building once known as Cromartie Hardware Store. In 1969, the funeral home moved to its current location on Cumberland Street in historic downtown Dunn. Throughout the years, Cromartie - Miller Funerals & Cremations has provided services to many historical figures.

Cromartie Funeral Home was established in 1906 by its founder, Raymond Cromartie Sr. It began on the 2nd floor of The Cromartie Hardware Store on Broad Street. Under Raymond Cromartie Jr., who succeeded his father as owner, the business moved to a larger location at the corner of Wilson Avenue and Edgerton Street.

Our current funeral home in Dunn

Raymond’s vision of providing our services to the families of the Dunn, North Carolina, and surrounding communities brought us to our current location, which was purchased in the late 1960s from the First Presbyterian Church. Today, we continue to provide quality service, quietly rendered to families in our community.

In 1989, Ricky Miller became owner of Cromartie - Miller Funerals & Cremations. Ricky has been affiliated with the business since 1969 when he began his funeral service apprenticeship. He graduated from Kentucky College of Mortuary Science in 1972 and obtained his funeral service license in 1975. After working closely with the former owners and observing the “The Cromartie Way” of serving families, Ricky coined the phrase: “Quality Service Quietly Rendered.”

Today, Cromartie - Miller Funerals & Cremations is part of the Dignity Memorial® network.
