History

The St. Martinville, Louisiana, location of Evangeline Funeral Home opened in 1951 after the Cletus Landry family decided to expand their funeral business beyond New Iberia. In addition to the St. Martinville location, the Landry family also opened a Delcambre location in 1960.

Original Evangeline funeral home

The Landry family opened our 1st Evangeline Funeral Home in 1941 after purchasing a private residence in New Iberia. The New Iberia funeral home has been a landmark and historic fixture in the area for many years and is a 2-story antebellum home that was built between 1901 and 1904 by the Dietlein family.

New funeral home owner

On November 6, 1986, Dalton L. Babineaux Jr. purchased the funeral home from the Landry family and operated the business until July 1, 1997.

Joining the Dignity Memorial network

In 2007, Evangeline Funeral Home joined the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers.
