Chapel Hill Gardens West cemetery

Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery is an impeccably maintained 95-acre cemetery. It offers traditional in-ground burial, above-ground entombment, modern burial alternatives and accommodations for cremation. Family estates offer the unique reassurance of a place for future generations to gather and remember.

The historic Hippach Memorial Chapel sits on the cemetery property. It was built in 1926 by Louis Hippach in honor of his parents, Frank and Lena Hippach, with the help of architect Arthur F. Woltersdorf. Nestled among trees atop a gentle hill, the chapel stands in solid Massachusetts granite and white Colorado Yule marble. Statues designed by sculptor Richard Bock adorn the chapel, an artist commissioned by architects Louis Sullivan and Frank Lloyd Wright. Stained-glass windows, carved oak corbels and a 5-foot sculptured bronze run appoint the chapel, which is available for committal services.

History

Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, began as Green Ridge Cemetery in the 1920s. About 70 years later, Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home opened to give families convenience and simplicity when planning final arrangements.
