Mount Olive Cemetery offers numerous gardens permitting granite monuments and memorials of many styles, shapes and sizes. A variety of lot sizes are also available to accommodate diverse needs, including single grave lots, companion lots and estate lots for numerous burials or build-to-suit private estates.

For those who prefer above-ground entombment, true companion and side-by-side crypts are available in the Briarwood Court Garden Mausoleums. All of our selections provide for perpetual care and maintenance.

History

Mount Olive Cemetery was founded in 1886 by the Scandinavian Lutheran Society to serve the local farming communities in the Dunning area of, what was then, the far Northwest suburbs of Chicago. The area, at the time, was rich in the Scandinavian culture and work ethic as reflected in the countless memorials erected to the men and women who created the area and helped build the city.

Back in the 1880s the land that Mount Olive now rests upon was on a slight hill, a beautiful site for a cemetery. The slight hills and inclines still make up the look of the cemetery and give a special presence to the many beautiful memorials, young and old, erected to the loved ones in its care.

Today, Mount Olive continues to reflect its diverse Chicago community but has remained a rock in the surrounding neighborhoods and a lasting legacy to the hard work and dedication of the immigrants who came to Chicago for a better life.
