Cremation services in Gotha

We specialize in cremation services that honor loved ones in personalized ways, and families love our transparent pricing. With expertise in scattering ashes and a friendly team who pays attention to every detail, we provide service that is second to none.

More and more people are choosing cremation over traditional burial, but most aren’t familiar with the many options:

  • a cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind.
  • a funeral with your loved one present, followed by cremation.
  • a cremation followed by a scattering, cemetery memorialization or celebration of life—or all three.

For those who wish for a more momentous memorial, Neptune Memorial Reef is an underwater cremation garden off the coast of Florida. A Celestis Memorial Spaceflight takes ashes into space for a little while or forever.

There are many options for cremation—and they're not all equal. Here's what you can expect when you choose us for your loved one's cremation:

  • Custody of care guaranteed. Our custody-of-care program helps safeguard the identification of your loved one from the time we bring them into our care until the time we return them to your family. We check, cross-check and check again, every step of the way.
  • Exclusive custody of your loved one. We operate a private, on-site crematory and work with trusted partners. Once your loved one is in our custody or that of a trusted partner, they’re in our care until they’re returned to your family.
  • Licensed, certified, conscientious staff. All Dignity Memorial® crematory operators are licensed and certified by Cremation Association of North America, or CANA. Only one person at a time is cremated, and the cremation chamber is thoroughly cleaned before the next person is cremated.

Woodlawn Memorial Park cemetery

Grounds at Woodlawn Funeral Home & Memorial ParkWoodlawn Memorial Park is an inclusive cemetery serving different faiths, cultures and beliefs. The property includes a large lake, 2 fountains and beautiful statues. It is a lovely final resting place and home to much wildlife.

Burial options

The cemetery offers a wide selection of burial options, including in-ground burial with flush or upright memorials, a community mausoleum, family estates, private mausoleums and a cremation garden with cremation niches.

Because we believe in making everyone feel welcome, certain areas of the cemetery are dedicated to specific religions, including the Catholic and Jewish faiths. In 1954, Woodlawn began to develop the gardens that would eventually have various religious themes. The 1st garden was the Garden of the Apostle, and then other gardens followed, including the Garden of the Last Supper. A bronze statue of George Washington sits in the Masonic garden.

In 1986, we added the Garden of Memories to provide options for families who choose cremation. A graceful fountain adorns this garden, making it a peaceful place to reflect and remember loved ones.

Life of Christ mosaic

Mausoleum at Woodlawn Funeral Home & Memorial ParkThe community mausoleum, Mausoleum of Christian Heritage, holds the Life of Christ mosaic. This cherished artwork is modeled after a similar piece at another cemetery in California and depicts the life of Christ in 23 scenes (with a center panel showing the risen Christ).

Crafted in Italy and assembled in Orlando, the mosaic is made of more than 11 million bits of glass. Unveiled in 1993, it serves as an impressive backdrop for our annual Easter sunrise service. Featuring music from local artists and various clergy, the service is an annual tradition for many families in the area.

Arbor Estates

In 2008, Woodlawn Memorial Park opened Arbor Estates. With a stream, waterfall and fountains, this garden is the first of its kind in the Orlando area. It allows both traditional burial spaces as well as cremation interment areas.

Honoring veterans

Woodlawn Memorial Park features several gardens dedicated to veterans. The cemetery also has memorials dedicated to military members and the memory of those who perished in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Woodlawn Funeral Home participates in the Homeless Veterans Burial Program, a cooperative effort with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and local veteran advocates and organizations. Through this program, homeless veterans with no family receive dignified military funerals with honors.

We also honor servicemen and servicewomen throughout the year, including on Memorial Day with American flags and National Wreath Laying Day, when we place wreaths on veterans’ graves.

Community involvement

Woodlawn Funeral Home and Woodlawn Memorial Park are invested in Gotha and surrounding communities. We host several events each year, including an Easter sunrise service, a Mother’s Day celebration and a December holiday remembrance. We are also involved in local rotary and chamber groups.

History

In 1926, Asher Peter and a group of civic leaders founded Woodlawn Memorial Park. The cemetery was designed to be a beautiful place that would express ideals of life, hope, and new beginnings. Robert Neel joined the Woodlawn staff in 1949. He and his son were instrumental in the planning and preparation of the Life of Christ mosaic and many of the other features that now adorn the cemetery.

In 1976, a funeral home was added to the property. This made Woodlawn Memorial Park the 1st cemetery in the state of Florida to have a funeral home on its grounds.
