Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, Santa Clara is a wonderful melting pot of cultures and religions. Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary welcomes our diverse community and serves people of all backgrounds, cultures and faiths. Our experienced team respects all funeral customs and rites and will ensure your traditions are upheld in a dignified manner. To better serve our community, we have associates who speak Farsi and Arabic. We also have a washing facility at our funeral home for those of Jewish and Muslim faiths to use before and after funeral services.

Many chapel options and services

Whether you wish to arrange for a traditional funeral, are interested in a Life Well Celebrated® ceremony, plan to have a large gathering or would like a more intimate service, our funeral home is equipped to handle many types of services and accommodates large groups.

Two spacious chapels, North Chapel and South Chapel, each have traditional pew-style seating for up to 200 guests, with separate reserved sitting areas for families. For those looking for a more intimate option, the Garden Room is a smaller chapel that holds 40-50 people. The Drawing Room is the perfect size for a family-only visitation.

Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary provides professional catering services so you don’t have to worry about food and drink in your time of need. You simply choose the menu and we take care of the rest. Our reception facility, Meridon Hall, is on the property in a separate building. The venue holds up to 75 guests.

All of our chapels are simply and tastefully decorated. We encourage you to customize the space to be as special as the person you are honoring. We invite you to bring memorabilia, photos, possessions and decor that speaks to the passions and hobbies of your loved one.

There are thousands of ways to celebrate a life. How will you honor your loved one’s legacy? The team at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary specializes in creating one-of-a-kind tributes that celebrate a person’s individuality. Did he bake the best sourdough bread in the Bay area? We can serve it during a catered reception and share the beloved recipe with guests. Was she a cycling fanatic? We can display her bike and organize a bike-riding processional. All we ask is that you provide the inspiration, and we’ll take care of all of the details—no matter how big or small.

We honor veterans

At Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, we understand the unique needs of America’s veterans and their families. As a Level Four Founding Community Partner with We Honor Veterans, we are honored to serve our nation’s heroes and take this responsibility seriously. We have taken steps to ensure our staff is knowledgeable of all the benefits available to military veterans and their families.

In addition, we host community events annually in honor of our veterans and work closely with local veterans organizations. With respect, integrity and dignity, we will walk you through the steps of creating a veteran’s memorial service that truly honors the life and sacrifice of your loved one.

We also participate in the Dignity Memorial® Homeless Veterans Burial Program. This cooperative effort with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, local medical examiners, coroners, veterans’ advocates and veterans’ organizations provides homeless and indigent veterans who have no family with proper military burials at no cost.

Honoring public servants

We also participate in the Dignity Memorial Public Servants Program. This program offers no-cost funerals for career and volunteer law enforcement officers, firefighters and emergency services personnel who fall in the line of duty.

Drunk driving prevention

The team at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary is involved in the Santa Clara community. We work each year with several local schools to teach high schoolers the hazards of drinking and driving. Alongside the Santa Clara Police Department, we simulate a crash and funeral to show students the real-life dangers of driving while intoxicated.

History

Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary was established by Harmon A. Smith in 1966 as the Harmon A. Smith Funeral Home. Donald J. Lima Sr. purchased the funeral home in 1974 and changed its name to Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary. At the time, it was the 2nd funeral home to bear the Lima family name.

A growing funeral business

Together with Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel of San Jose, the Lima Family funeral home firm developed a reputation of compassionate, caring service and set a high standard of service in the San Francisco Bay Area. To better serve the Silicon Valley community, Donald went on to open Lima Family Milpitas-Fremont Mortuary and Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Fremont. In 1986, Lima Family Mortuaries joined the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery providers. Today, we strive to uphold the legacy set forth by the Lima family.
