About
With beautiful views of Sunrise Mountain, Palm Downtown Mortuary and Palm Downtown Cemetery in Las Vegas, Nevada, are sister locations committed to caring for families and planning unique memorials that honor their loved ones. Serving the community for more than 60 years, we offer the expertise and attention to detail you deserve.
Funeral home for all
Since 1957, Palm Downtown Mortuary has been a warm and welcoming place to plan a service. Located just north of the historic downtown Las Vegas strip, it's a contemporary funeral home with one of the largest chapels in the Las Vegas valley.
At Palm Downtown Mortuary, we welcome families of all backgrounds, beliefs and cultures. We celebrate and embrace the diversity and vibrancy of the Las Vegas community, and our team is familiar with many funeral rites and traditions. We also have team members who speak Spanish, German, Russian and Bulgarian.
Modern amenities and spaces
Designed for services of all types and sizes, Palm Downtown Mortuary has two nondenominational chapels. The main chapel seats up to 400 guests in a traditional setting with aisles and pews. Stunning midcentury windows on the side of the chapel allow natural light to stream in during afternoon services. Our smaller chapel seats up to 200 guests, has a similar design and is ideal for more intimate gatherings.
From a traditional funeral with a cemetery burial, to a simple cremation with a scattering at a personally meaningful place, to a celebration of life with food, music, decor and more, we take care of every detail.

Personalized funerals and memorials
Every person’s life has a unique story. At Palm Downtown Mortuary, we take the time to listen to the stories and learn about your loved one. What did he like to do for fun? Did she have a favorite song? What made them smile? We weave these elements together to create a meaningful and memorable tribute that celebrates and honors your loved one’s passions and personality.
Our team can find inspiration almost anywhere. If he spent every weekend hitting the links, let’s transform the chapel into a putting green and give guests personalized tees and golf balls. Or perhaps we bring in favorite plants to honor the avid gardener and decorate the chapel, reminding guests of the natural beauty she loved so much.
No detail is too small, no wish is out of reach. We’re here to help every step of the way.
Cremation in Downtown Las Vegas
There are many options for cremation in Las Vegas—and they're not all equal. We specialize in cremation services that honor loved ones in personalized ways, and families love our all-inclusive pricing. With facilities for outdoor services, expertise in scattering ashes and a friendly team who pays attention to every detail, we provide service that is second to none.
More and more people are choosing cremation over traditional burial, but most aren’t familiar with the many options:
- a cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind.
- a funeral with your loved one present, followed by cremation.
- a cremation followed by a scattering, cemetery memorialization or celebration of life—or all three.
If you're interested in cemetery placement, our sister cemetery, Palm Downtown Cemetery, is among the prettiest in the area.
And for those who wish for something more momentous, Neptune Memorial Reef is an underwater cremation garden off the coast of Florida. A Celestis Memorial Spaceflight takes ashes into space for a little while or forever.

Our care for you and your family doesn't end after your loved one's service is over. Palm Downtown Mortuary offers online grief resources accessible from anywhere. Families who choose us for their loved one's service also have access to our 24-hour Compassion Helpline®.
For up to 13 months after planning a Dignity Memorial® service, a family gets unlimited complimentary phone access to professionals trained in grief counseling any time day or night, for any reason. Palm Downtown Cemetery
Situated on 25 acres, Palm Downtown Cemetery offers a peaceful final resting place. Queen palm trees, live oaks and Mondale pines provide shade in the desert heat, and blooming flowers, gardens and water features accent a beautiful setting in which to reflect.
Burial and cremation options for every family
A walk down any of our winding paths reveals a range of burial and cremation memorialization options.
For traditional ground burial property, we offer upright or flat markers, lawn spaces and crypts, five outdoor mausoleum complexes, private and semiprivate estates, and sarcophagi.
For families who choose cremation, memorialization options include columbaria (glass- and granite-front niches are available), crypts, cenotaphs, benches, lawn niches, private and semiprivate estates, and scattering gardens.
If you'd like something more exclusive, the Palm Downtown Cemetery team will work with you to plan, develop and personalize a private estate for up to eight family members. It can include custom landscaping, a locking gate, seating and more.
Water features in the desert cemetery
Throughout the cemetery grounds, you'll find water features that offer peaceful places for reflection. The Garden of Repose includes wonderful shade trees and a modern reflecting pool, while the Garden of Roses has a bubbling fountain. It's adjacent to our private estate section and modern cremation garden. The cremation garden includes individual and community options for ashes, including memorial benches and niches.
Garden of Dreams
The cemetery's Garden of Dreams opened in 2012 as a place to remember the U.S. Civil Rights movement. It serves to educate people about the struggles and successes on the journey toward equal rights in this country.
Queen palms mark the way to the Walk of Dreams, which leads to the Garden of Dreams’ Civil Rights Plaza. Memorialization pavers are available to honor loved ones, and proceeds from the sale of pavers help fund college scholarships.
Inside the Civil Rights Plaza, 14 polished granite stars embedded in the floor represent the U.S. Constitution’s 14th Amendment. Each year, we honor the contributions of a leader in the civil rights movement by dedicating a star on the walkway. In the center of the plaza, a 40-foot-tall, rock-pitched torch represents the ideal—when we all live together in harmony as equals.
The expansive lawn surrounding the Garden of Dreams offers a beautiful view of Sunrise Mountain and includes both ground burial and cremation options.
Community events
We invite you to join us at Palm Downtown Mortuary for annual community events that celebrate lives lost throughout the year and draw on the healing power of community.
Our Memorial Day service honors those who have given their lives in service to our country. Prior to the service, American flags are placed throughout the cemetery on the graves of service members by members of the American Legion Post 8.
During the first week of November, we host a popular Día de los Muertos celebration. This lively event celebrates Mexican culture and honors those who have passed by supporting their spiritual journey. Live bands play traditional music and we hand out Mexican chocolates and loaves of bread. The day’s festivities are concluded with a religious mass.

History
Founded in 1926 with one funeral home and four employees, the Palm group of funeral homes, cemeteries and crematories has grown to include seven locations and more than 200 employees, caring for thousands of Southern Nevada families each year. Palm Downtown Mortuary opened in 1957 to better serve families in the Cultural Corridor and North Las Vegas. The facility’s midcentury architecture is iconic. Palm Downtown Cemetery opened that same year.
Las Vegas entrepreneurs
Anna Roberts Park founded the original Palm Funeral Home in 1926 on the corner of First Street and Carson Avenue, where the Golden Nugget stands today. Originally from Pennsylvania, Anna arrived in Las Vegas in 1911. She'd been living in Bakersfield, California, as a cook in a boarding house when she met her future husband, William Roberts. A plucky and strong-willed woman, Anna helped her husband run his various business interests.
In 1912, she embarked on a cross-country journey to finance a lime and gypsum quarry near Slon, Nevada. Anna’s efforts were successful, and she came back to Las Vegas to open the quarry. The business, Nevada Lime and Plaster Co., was founded by William and is still in operation today. During this time, the couple also owned a general store on Fremont Street, called the People’s Store. Anna traded dry goods for basketry and other crafts made by the Paiute Indians.
In 1915, the undertaker of Las Vegas was run out of town after a brief time in jail. With the former undertaker gone, William saw an opportunity and opened the Las Vegas Undertaking Co., which drew on skills he learned from a former career. Anna learned on the job, but in 1920, she sought formal training in Los Angeles while William ran the business.
In 1925, Anna discovered that her husband had been unfaithful and promptly filed for divorce. The newspapers could not get enough of their juicy divorce and followed it closely. Unlike what was expected of women during that time, Anna refused to stand by and let her husband take everything they built together.
Caring for her community
In 1927, William left Las Vegas while Anna stayed and opened Palm Funeral Home, named after a single palm tree in her yard, and put her training into action. As a trusted funeral service provider, Palm Funeral Home held services for many local people, including the workers who died while constructing Hoover Dam. Although Anna sold the business in 1946, we carry on her commitment to serving Las Vegas families with the highest degree of compassion, respect and attention to detail.
