Leona Ruth Meyer, 93, of Ossian, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Ossian Health and Rehabilitation. She was born May 16, 1930 in Decatur, Indiana, daughter to the late Charles and Flora (Gallmeier) Thieme. She was a Decatur High School graduate and was a founding member of New Hope Lutheran Church. Leona worked at Norwell High School for over 15 years, as well as working as a homemaker, caring for her home and family. Surviving are her children, Daryl (Laurie) Meyer of Goshen, IN, Randall (Clara) Meyer of Ossian, IN, Debra (Dave) Chase of Peachtree City, GA, and Brent Meyer of Syracuse, IN; 12 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Meyer in 2017; granddaughter, Emily Meyer; great granddaughter, Lillian Meyer; daughter-in-law, Gail Meyer; and siblings, Regina Wise, Laurina Conrad, Wilbert Thieme, Carl Thieme, and Marilyn Meyer. Funeral services will be on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 11:00 AM at New Hope Lutheran Church, 8824 North State Road #1, Ossian, Indiana 46777 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation for Leona will also be held Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill Street, Ossian, Indiana 46777. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery. Contributions in Leona's memory may be made to New Hope Lutheran Church; Lutheran Hour Ministries; and Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
