James Edward Downs Sr.

Mr. James Edward Downs, Sr., 73 a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013, at his residence. A son of the late Martha Flick and Roner Edward Phillip Downs, he was born on February 3, 1940 in Maryland. Mr. Downs was a truck driver, served in the United States Army, and attended the Ray of Hope Pentecostal Holiness Church. He is survived by his wife, Ella M. Downs, of Harrisonburg; two daughters, Rosemary Downs and Amanda Sue Downs; one son Jamie Downs; two step-sons, Roger Lambert and Ricky Lambert, all of Harrisonburg; two grandchildren, Dakota Downs and Brandon Swartz; one step-grandchild, Keith Lambert; and one sister, Linda Secrest, of Verona. He was preceded in death by a sister, JoAnn Fisher. Mr. Downs will be cremated and the family will receive friends on Friday evening, December 20, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
