Obituary of William Billy the Kid Henry Barba, Jr.
William Henry Barba, Jr., affectionately known as “Billy the Kid”, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at the age of 61. Billy was born August 29, 1954, in Hampton, Virginia, and had resided in Suffolk, Virginia, for the past 21 years. He worked faithfully as a mechanic at Dominion Virginia Power and retired after 31 years of service. Billy had many passions, including his need for speed, as evident in his love for motorcycles, sports cars, and boats. He also enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia and all things beach related. His sense of humor, wit, and smile made a positive impression on all who knew him. Billy never met a stranger. He is survived by his wife, Susan Paxton Barba; two children, Alicia Barba and Ryan Gravely; his loyal canine companions, Sunny and Charlie; his father, William Barba, Sr.; his sister, Brenda Sweeney and her husband, Glenn; his granddaughter, Cali LeSeur; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other beloved family members, and his lifelong friend, Wilbert Walthour. He leaves behind many people who were “adopted” into his family. He is preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Moore Barba, and his precious dog, Keri. A celebration of Billy’s life will be held on Saturday, June 18, at 1:30 p.m., at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mayo Clinic in his memory. Friends are encouraged to visit www.parklawn-woodfh.com to share memories and words of condolence with the family. Arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N.
