Thurman Allison Woodard

Thurman A. (Big Woody) Woodard, 78 years old, of Hampton was called by the Lord on November 16, 2024.
Thurman is preceded in death by loving parents Allison D. Woodard, Mary L. Woodard, and brother Stephen A. Woodard.
Surviving are three brothers, Charles G. (Edna) of Gloucester, Clyde E. (Becky) if Franklinton NC and Neal T. (Audra) of Hampton. Four nieces, Mary, Diana, Leslie and Karli. Two nephews, Steven and Timothy along with many great nieces, great nephews and one great great nephew.
Thurman enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter in his early years, often content just listening to the dogs bellowing through the woods.
He loved his western shows on TV as well as NASCAR racing.
Thurman retired from Newport News Shipbuilding in 2006 as a Master Shipbuilder, in the X11 Shipfitters department (water-tight crew).
Thurman is remembered for his generosity and avid story telling, in which all that knew him could attest.
The family expresses a heartfelt thanks to Sentara ICU, Sentara Comfort Care, the staff of Commonwealth
Senior Living in Hampton and the Medi-Home Hospice team for their compassion and support during Thurman’s final journey.
A visitation will be held on Saturday November 30th, 2024 at 11 AM at Parklawn Wood Funeral Home, located at 2551 N. Armistead Ave, Hampton VA 23666, immediately followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM and a burial at 1:00 PM at Parklawn Wood Memorial Park.
