Thomas Martin Hamilton, Jr., was born June 1, 1955 in Susanville, California to Thomas M. Hamilton, Sr., retired Base Commander at Langley Air Force Base, and Virginia Hamilton, a homemaker. He lived all around the world with his family before retiring in Newport News, Virginia. He served in the Air Force for six years before working for the National Security Agency as a [redacted]. He won multiple classified awards in his 35 years of government service.
Tom had a deep appreciation of beauty. He was a painter, accomplished with oil pastels, and he loved all kinds of music, from Pink Floyd to Abba to the Beach Boys. He was a huge admirer of classic and contemporary literature and he felt deeply through film and theater. He loved sharing experiences with his family, from roller coaster thrill rides to Three Stooges marathons and fireworks on the 4th of July at Ft. Meade. He also adored his dog, Luci.
Tom is survived by two sisters, Linda Hamilton and Kathy Ferris, and two brothers, Matthew Hamilton and David Hamilton. Kathy and Allan Erbe lovingly cared for him for many years until his passing. His three children, Rachel Binette, Sarah Hamilton, and Samuel Hamilton, share his sense of [redacted], his appreciation of beauty, and his good taste. He passed peacefully in his sleep on August 24, 2022.
