Obituary of Susan Drewniak
Susan L. Drewniak, loving wife, mother and grandmother, slipped away from us on Dec. 1, 2022, just twelve days after her husband of 62 years, Myron “Mickey” Drewniak, passed away. Susan was 82, turning 83 on Dec. 11; Mickey was 83, turning 84 on Dec. 13. After her husband died from stroke complications, Susan battled Covid in the hospital while mourning Mickey. Susan is survived by her sister, Marie St. Pierre, of Little Compton, R.I.; twin children Nancy Drewniak Fedro of Cornwall, N.Y. and Michael of Hampton, Va.; and five grandchildren, Christopher Drewniak of Cranford, N.J., and his identical twin sisters, Katie and Claire Drewniak, also of Cranford; and Jackson and Harrison Fedro of Cornwall, N.Y. Susan was also predeceased by their son Mark, who passed away on July 23, 1989. There was not much Susan and Mickey did without each other, with the possible exception of gardening. Mom was a Rutgers University certified Master Gardener, who bedecked her home most of the year with her favorite annuals and perennials, but especially roses. She shared her flowers with neighbors and kept her house fragrant with fresh-cut blooms. Susan was also a prolific reader, knocking out four or five full-length novels in a week. Susan enjoyed travelling to many places through the years with her husband, with Kauai, Hawaii her most beloved and frequented destination. For many years, they stayed there for six weeks at a time. They also traveled to Europe, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and throughout the Caribbean. Their favorite domestic destinations were Hilton Head, S.C., Cape Cod, and the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Susan was a registered nurse until retirement and had worked in hospitals in Massachusetts and New Jersey. She was a congregant of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hampton, Va. Susan will be laid to rest on Friday, Dec. 9th, 2022, next to her husband at the Parklawn Memorial Park, 2551 N. Armistead Ave,. Hampton, VA 23666. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., with a Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared below for the Drewniak family.
