Robert Lee Bailey Jr.

Robert L. Bailey, 93, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2015. He graduated from the Apprentice School in Newport News and was employed by the American Bureau of Shipping until his retirement. Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Pittman Bailey; and his parents, Anna and Robert Bailey. He is survived by his children, Bobby Bailey, III, Brenda L. Matthews, Faith B. Esmont, and Charles Scott Bailey; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces, Shirley Hill Burtner and Carolyn Hill Cogdrill. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 pm, Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, with a celebration of Robert’s life to begin at 1 pm. Entombment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
